For years, Islamic finance in Uganda has been steadily growing from Islamic banking frameworks to regulatory evolution and Shariah compliant advisory services. However, a critical component remained missing: a fully fledged Islamic insurance(Takaful) provider.
Tamini General Insurance Uganda’s launch marks the closing of that gap. With the introduction of Shariah compliant risk protection, Uganda now moves closer to a complete, ethical financial lifecycle where individuals and businesses can bank, invest, finance, and insure in alignment with Islamic principles.
As their first clients, today, we were honoured to have witnessed its launch. We commend the leadership, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders including IRA UGANDA, and Salaam Bank Limited, who made this possible.
